Eco school – Switch off day
On 24th of November children came to school dressed in reflective clothing. We had a wonderful time looking at ways to bring light into the classrooms without using electricity. We raised a total of £500 for Solar Aid providing safe lighting in deprived areas.
Anti-Bullying week and special assembly
On 10th of November PC Ranjit Sonigra visited the school to reinforce that Land of Learning is a bully free zone. Children took part in number of activities throughout the week and highlighted the importance of positive friendship.
Macmillan coffee morning
On the 4th of October we hosted a fundraiser for Macmillan cancer support and we raised a total of £770. Parents also participated in our Curriculum Information meeting.
Leicester Tigers
Land of Learning has been very privileged to receive free rugby coaching from the Leicester Tigers Rugby Team. The coaching sessions are held every Tuesday after school by 3 rugby coaches who are part of the Tiger’s team. That’s not all, Land of Learning was then personally invited to watch a rugby match on Saturday 16th January by the Tigers Rugby Team. The game, held on home ground, was part of the European Rugby Championship Cup where Leicester Tigers played against the Italian team, Benetton Treviso.
Army Visit
On Friday 11th December, six Commanding Officers from The British Army came to visit the school. They spoke to the children about their core values which proved to be similar to the values that we instill in our children at Land of Learning. The officers gave the children a brief insight into their lives of serving the army. They informed the children of the types of jobs that some of the officers do.
