The beautiful words of Surah al-Mulk resounded/echoed in every classroom, as our children challenged themselves to learn the 30 verse surah by memorising a verse a day over the course of the holy month. They also undertook the ’99 names of Allah’ sponsorship challenge, learning as many names of Allah as they could which they then got sponsored for by their family and friends. All proceeds from these sponsorships went towards the ‘Zaytoun trees for life’ association, a tree planting programme run by the Palestine fair trade association. The total amount raised came up to an outstanding £5500! And the charitable deeds of our children did not end there. Our children, together with the help of their parents and teachers came together to make more than 100 incredible food and Eid gift hampers for the local food bank. The utter generosity of our parents never ceases to amaze us! Together with that, 3 exciting boxes brimming with insightful information packs and fun craft activities all about Ramadhan were prepared by each class teacher, then delivered to 3 schools with the aim of spreading the knowledge of this special month to other children. With heavy hearts, we bid our precious month of Ramadhan farewell with a virtual Umrah trip experience for all of our children created by their class teachers. From boarding passes to Zam Zam and date stations, to role play the whole Umrah experience, including Tawaaf, it truly was a magical Umrah experience for children and teachers alike!
