Hadith of the Week

Rasulullah ﷺ said, “Be kind to your neighbour and you will be a (complete) mu’min.” [Tirmidhi]

History Week

After a brief introduction to the theme of this year’s History week (Stone age to Digital age), children left the hall buzzing with ideas and ready for a fun week packed with activities. Year One were given a blast of the past as they took a step back into the Victorian era, experiencing how life would have been as a Victorian school child. Meanwhile, the Year Five classroom was turned into a Stone-age cave, with children taking part in various activities such as making their own “bone” necklaces, learning the origin of words in the English language, and much more.

The year 4 children time-travelled back to sunny Egypt as they studied the ancient Egyptians, learning all about the many rituals, beliefs and sacred practices of the ancient Egyptians. Together with that, each class studied the fascinating history of the holy Qur’an in their R.E. lessons, learning about the story of its revelation.  They were also given the opportunity to examine old versions of the Qur’an, many of which were collections of single verses written on scraps of old leather, parchment, and even stones. The pre-historic fonts of Arabic were studied in their Arabic lessons, and children also practiced imitating the beautiful calligraphy of the Qur’an using ink and quills.

The efforts of our parents also in creating some outstanding costumes did not go unnoticed, as the children showcased their fabulous costumes in assembly leaving all members of staff extremely impressed. History week ended with a history exhibition from each class in the corridors which each class were given the opportunity to tour, along with a historic timeline running all through-out the school.
